Arcane Magics

Well, this is just an idea that I had yesterday. What if, to use a very well-used cliche, magic exsisted?
The Arcane is already quite "mysterious", but I thought for a while.
I acctually then began to set in my mind that human beings would use it to THEIR OWN advantages, thus changing history as it went along.
I also determined that only certain people would have enough patience to learn to unlock the power (possibly one out of 64 people could learn Arcana), and history could be saved.
That still leaves around 101,562,500 human beings of the Earth's population that can learn and/or study the Arcana.
Dividing that number by 500, and you get 203,125 humans that can use Arcana without studying (called, "Sorcerers", no less).

What I can't get my mind around, is the question of how human civilization could evolve around Arcane magics. How could history be changed? Would the world be for better or for worse with Arcane magic?

  1. Hey, it's Christian. Good idea. Medicinal skills would have been improved. Cancer probably would have been cured. Wars would have been WAY more dangerous, with arcana being used all over the place and magically enchanted weapons. Lots of stuff would have changed.
